GoAir signs firm order for 72 A320neo from Airbus
GoAir has penned a firm contract for 72 A320neo aircraft following its memorandum of understanding signed during the Farnborough International Airshow. The agreement doubles GoAir’s firm order book for the aircraft type to 144.
Lufthansa welcomes fifth Airbus A320neo to fleet
Lufthansa has taken delivery of its latest A320neo from Airbus, with German flag-carrier now operating five of the planes. The new aircraft - with the registration D-AINE – was handed over on the Airbus business premises in Hamburg-Finkenwerder.
Airbus completes 100 plane order with Iran Air
Iran Air and Airbus have signed a firm contract for 100 aircraft, building on an initial commitment signed in January 2016 in Paris. The agreement, signed by Farhad Parvaresh, Iran Air chairman and chief executive, and Fabrice Bregier, Airbus president and chief executive, covers 46 A320 Family, 38 A330 Family and 16 A350 XWB aircraft. Deliveries will begin in early 2017.
Norwegian welcomes first Airbus plane to fleet with A320neo delivery
Norwegian subsidiary Arctic Aviation Assets has taken delivery of its first ever Airbus aircraft. This is the first of 70 A320neos that the Norwegian Group has on order. It is also the first of 12 A320neos that will be leased to Hong Kong carrier HK Express.
Boeing slams WTO ruling as subsidy battle rumbles on
Boeing has rejected a World Trade Organisation claim that it received illegal subsidies for its 777X manufacture programme. In response to the ruling, Boeing argued the WTO had rejected virtually all of the European Union’s challenges to the Washington state tax incentives. On Monday the World Trade Organisation ruled a tax break from Washington state to help Boeing develop its new 777X jetliner was a prohibited subsidy.
Peach Aviation places latest Airbus A320neo order
Japan’s Peach Aviation has signed a firm order with Airbus for the purchase of ten A320neo and three A320ceo aircraft. The order was announced at a signing ceremony in Tokyo attended by Shinichi Inoue, managing director and chief executive, Peach Aviation and Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president.
Airbus Corporate Jets reveals ACJ320neo Melody concept
Airbus Corporate Jets has combined its knowledge of customer preferences with a fresh approach to cabin design, creating a new cabin concept for its ACJ320neo Family. Called Melody, it features flowing lines inspired by the curves of nature, such as hilly horizons, rolling rivers and desert dunes.
Airbus Group sees fall in net income
Airbus Group revealed earlier its nine-month net income was €1.81 billion, down five per cent from a figure of €1.90 billion recorded last year. Earnings per share were €2.34, down from €2.42 euros last year. At the same time reported EBIT at the aerospace giant fell 20 per cent to €2.36 billion.
Airbus delivers 10,000th commercial aircraft
Airbus today celebrated the delivery of its 10,000th aircraft - an A350-900 for Singapore Airlines. The milestone event was marked by a special ceremony in Toulouse hosted by Airbus Group chief executive Tom Enders and attended by Goh Choon Phong, chief executive of Singapore Airlines.
Airbus begins final preparation of first A330-900
Airbus has commenced the final assembly of its first A330neo, an A330-900, at its final assembly line in Toulouse with the joining of the wings to the centre fuselage at station 40. As the newest member of the world’s most popular A330 wide-body family the A330neo builds on the family’s proven economics, versatility and reliability, set to reduce fuel consumption by a further 14 per cent per seat.
Azores Airlines to add Airbus A321neo to long-haul fleet
Azores Airlines is modernising its short-haul and transatlantic fleet with the A321neo and by 2019 with the longer range A321LR. The decision follows a growth strategy to expand into new transatlantic routes. Azores airlines has been an Airbus customer since 1999 operating seven A310, A320 and A330 Airbus aircrafts across Europe, Canada and North America.
World Trade Organisation criticises EU subsidies to Airbus
A World Trade Organisation compliance panel has ruled that the European Union has failed to comply with its obligation to remedy the subsidies European governments have provided to support Airbus. Rather than comply with their WTO obligations to remedy the $17 billion in past subsidies provided to Airbus, the WTO found that EU Member States provided Airbus with new illegal launch aid - reportedly almost $5 billion - so the organisation could launch the new A350.
