Hong Kong Airlines signs for nine Airbus A330-300
Hong Kong Airlines has signed a contract with Airbus for the firm order of nine additional A330-300 aircraft. The aircraft will be operated across a network which links Hong Kong with a wide range of destinations in Asia, and beyond.
Singapore Airlines casts latest shadow over Airbus A380
Singapore Airlines will not renew the lease on its first Airbus A380 casting a further shadow over the future of the world’s largest jumbo jet. The double-decker jet was launched in 2007, with Singapore Airlines the first customer. However, the carrier has decided not to renew its ten-year lease on the plane when it expires in 2017.
Airbus A320neo makes North American debut with Volaris
Low-cost carrier Volaris has taken delivery of its first A320neo, making the airline the first operator of the A320neo in North America. Volaris is Mexico’s largest Airbus customer, having ordered 74 A320 Family aircraft, including 30 A320neo.
Jetstar Pacific Airlines places A320 order with Airbus
Vietnam’s Jetstar Pacific Airlines has finalised a purchase agreement with Airbus for ten A320ceo aircraft. The contract follows an MOU announced earlier this year and was signed in Hanoi by Le Hong Ha, chief executive officer of Jetstar Pacific and Fabrice Brégier, Airbus president.
BOC Aviation lands latest Airbus A321 order
BOC Aviation has placed a firm order for five more A321 aircraft. The order is in addition to an order announced in January for 30 A320 Family planes, which included 15 A321s (eight A321neo and seven A321ceo). “We have increased our order for the A321 in response to the market trend and appetite for larger capacity single-aisle aircraft,” said Robert Martin, managing director, BOC Aviation.
LATAM takes delivery of first A320neo from Airbus
LATAM Airlines Group has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo at Airbus’s headquarters in Toulouse, France. The ultra-fuel efficient aircraft – showcasing LATAM’s white, indigo and coral livery and fitted with Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100-JM engines – was presented to LATAM Airlines Group chief executive, Enrique Cueto.
JetBlue Airways orders 30 additional A321 aircraft from Airbus
New York-based JetBlue Airways has amended its purchase agreement with Airbus to include an additional 15 Airbus A321ceo (current engine option) and 15 A321neo (new engine option) aircraft. The airline, which already operates A321s, has not yet announced its engine selection for the newly ordered aircraft.
Pegasus welcomes first Airbus A320neo to fleet
Pegasus Airlines has taken delivery of the first aircraft of its 100 Airbus order made in 2012, the single largest aircraft order in Turkish civil aviation history at the time. The A320neo aircraft TC-NBA - nicknamed ‘Demokrasi’ (Democracy) - makes Pegasus the launch operator for A320neo with CFM engines.
Norwegian places order for 30 Airbus 321LR planes
Norwegian’s subsidiary Arctic Aviation Assets has placed a new order of 30 Airbus 321 Long Range aircraft. Norwegian will operate the A321LR once the aircraft enters service in 2019. The aircraft has a size and range that makes it suitable for many more long-haul destinations in the future.
LATAM Airlines to welcome first A320neo
LATAM Airlines Group’s first A320neo rolled out of the Airbus Final Assembly Line in Toulouse after the installation of Pratt & Whitney Pure Power PW1100-JM engines, showcasing the airline’s new coral and indigo livery. The aircraft will continue through the next stages of production, including completion of cabin furnishing, ground and flight tests.
Farnborough 2016: Aviation giants celebrate successful biannual show
American aviation manufacturer Boeing and European rival Airbus have celebrated a successful Farnborough International Airshow. Boeing, which celebrates its centennial tomorrow, has seen multi-billion dollar orders and commitments across the company, including defence platforms, commercial airplanes and services agreements.
Farnborough 2016: Avianca-owner Synergy places 62 Airbus A320neo order
Synergy Aerospace Corporation, largest shareholder of Colombia-based Avianca and owner of Avianca Brazil, has finalised a purchase agreement with Airbus for 62 A320neo family aircraft. These A320neo will be the base of the fleet renewal and network growth strategy for Avianca Brazil, and also mark over 1,000 Airbus aircraft sold in Latin America.
