Air Canada has announced its new winter sun schedule for 2025, reflecting its largest network expansion to Latin America to date, with 16% more seats versus last winter. Highlights of the carrier’s exciting new schedule for the Winter 2025/26 season include the new destinations of Rio de Janeiro, Cartagena, Guatemala City, and Guadalajara – previously unserved by the global carrier. These new destinations come as the airline adds a total of 13 new routes to its network, strengthening its position on the global stage.

Air Canada to Offer Customers Increased Overhead Storage Room
Air Canada today announced that it will be the launch customer for the Airbus Airspace cabin on the A220 family of aircraft, giving customers more overhead storage space. The first aircraft to receive the new bins are scheduled to be delivered early in 2026.
Airline’s First Station with Fully Electric Main Ground Support Equipment
To mark Earth Month, Air Canada announced today that its ground operations in Québec City will be the airline’s first station in Canada to achieve 100% electrification of its GSE fleet across all main categories by the end of 2025. This milestone will represent a complete transition from fossil fuel-powered equipment to electric alternatives for all baggage and ramp tractors, belt loaders, power stows, container loaders and aircraft tractors. This transition will eliminate Air Canada’s use of fossil fuel equipment in these key GSE categories at this station.

Air Canada to Operate from JFK Terminal 6 in 2026
JFK Millennium Partners (JMP), the company selected by the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey to build and operate John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new world-class Terminal 6 (T6), and Air Canada, Canada’s largest airline and a Skytrax Four-Star rated carrier, today announced that Air Canada will operate from T6 when it opens to passengers in 2026, joining fellow Star Alliance partners Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and ANA as future T6 airlines.
Air Canada orders five additional A220s
Air Canada, the national carrier of Canada, has signed a firm order with Airbus for five more latest generation single-aisle A220-300s on the fifth anniversary since taking delivery of its first A220 in December 2019. This follows an initial order in 2016 for 45 A220-300s and a reorder in 2022 for 15 more. Including this latest reorder, Air Canada’s total firm orders for the A220-300 stands at 65 aircraft.
