Russian billionaire Lebedev sells Aeroflot stake for $400m

Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev is to sell his stake in Aeroflot for $400m (£247m) in a bid to raise cash for other projects in aviation, agriculture and publishing. He was the state-controlled airline’s largest shareholder with 25.8 percent.

Aeroflot, the Russian flag carrier has revealed plans to cut 2,000 jobs, or 13 percent of its workforce, in the next half-year, after its profits dropped amid higher fuel prices.
Lebedev to sell Blue Wings to Aeroflot for €1
Russian billionaire Alexander Lebedev has offered to sell his German charter airline Blue Wings AG to Aeroflot for €1 because it faces unspecified “financial difficulties”.The purchase will allow state-run Aeroflot, in which Lebedev owns a 29 percent stake to enter the European market, he said yesterday.
