ABTA criticises £5m gov ad campaign
Following the launch of the Government’s latest £4m advertising campaign to encourage Brits to holiday at home this year, ABTA has warned that the campaign might fall on deaf ears, according to the results its latest YouGov poll.
ABTA makes recommendations ahead of March budget
ABTA has written to the Chancellor George Osborne with a five point action plan to drive growth opportunities for the travel industry ahead of the 21 March Budget. Highlights include a plea to revisit decisions on Air Passenger Duty and a request for an increase in the UK’s connectivity.
ABTA unveils speaker line up for Travel Matters 2012

ABTA – The Travel Association today responds to the Department for Transport’s announcement on reform of the ATOL scheme of financial protection. In its announcement today, the DfT outlined a series of reforms that will be introduced effective from 30th April 2012, key among them a new concept that will see ‘Flight Plus’ holidays receive the same financial protection as flight-based package holidays through the ATOL scheme.
Abu Dhabi ambassador programme gets underway
The largest edition of ADTA’s annual Abu Dhabi Ambassador Programme – which has now entered its fifth year – is underway, bringing together 132 Emirati nationals, aged between 20 and 35, and representing some 50 public and private sector organisations – 34 of which are new to the programme.

Department for transport announces ATOL reforms
The British department for transport has announced a series of reforms to the Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing scheme, which insures passengers against the collapse of a tour operator. Effective from April 30th 2012, ‘Flight Plus’ holidays will receive the same financial protection as flight-based package holidays through the ATOL scheme.
