World Sport Destination Expo (WSDE), the global market place for sport tourism, has announced a content partnership with SportBusiness Group, the world’s leading supplier of information, media and B2B marketing services to the sports industry.

The deal will see SportBusiness create a conference to run alongside WSDE, provide content for the programme, as well as bringing its editorial expertise to the world’s first sport tourism exhibition.

SportBusiness Group’s publishing director, Phil Savage, says the event will be essential in better understanding the sport bidding process, and provide a blueprint for winning the rights to host sporting events.

He said: “Sporting events have the power to bring economic and many other benefits to their hosts and in tough economic times a very welcome feelgood factor. SportBusiness has worked with bidding cities on the past four competitions to stage summer and winter Olympic Games and understand well what it takes to bring sports events home. World Sport Destination Expo will be a good opportunity for all players in this exciting market to get to know each other better, and will no doubt play a part in deciding where future sports events will be held.”

Co-located alongside the 2010 FIFA World Cup, WSDE is the first global business forum dedicated to showcasing the $600 billion a year sport tourism industry.

SportBusiness Group publishes Ultimate Sports Cities, Sports Event Bidding and Sports Tourism: Strategies for Successful Development, as well as providing services to sports federations and event organisers of major sporting events. SportBusiness International is the leading magazine for the business of sport and the group also organises conferences and runs professional development for professionals operating in the business of sport.
