World class Kiwi snowboarding and surfing feature in first winter webisode

Diaries Down Under is back with another winter series, releasing the first of five high definition webisodes which showcase Queenstown and the surrounding region.

The innovative cutting-edge production, sponsored by Destination Queenstown, promotes what’s hot on and off the slopes around Queenstown.

Nick Hyne, one of New Zealand’s top snowboarders, returns to front the inspirational series with renowned snowsports cameramen Ben Ryan and Heath Patterson behind the lens.

The first Diaries episode shows that winter has arrived, the mountains are open and the fun has started.  The stunning seven-minute clip kicks off in Queenstown and features New Zealand pro surfer Maz Quinn and the Diaries crew taking on the challenge to surf and snowboard in one day.

Diaries Down Under cameraman Ben Ryan said it was an incredible experience and the footage they captured was “epic”.

“Where else can you surf and snowboard in the same day with two such amazing backdrops?  If you aren’t already here this video will make you wish you were.”

The five-part winter series is expected to attract a web audience of around 120,000 per episode as well as reaching an Australian television audience of 500,000 per episode when it’s aired on Fuel TV and Rush TV.  Queenstown’s international visitors will also get to view the episodes on the big screen as they come through Queenstown Airport’s arrivals lounge.

Destination Queenstown CEO, Graham Budd believes the highly successful webisodes are a great way to target the youth demographic and market the alpine resort as a ‘must visit’ destination during the Southern Hemisphere’s winter.

“Diaries Down Under is a fun and fresh way to highlight what Queenstown and the surrounding region has to offer; from world famous terrain, to stunning scenery, activities and après ski.”
