WIZZ AIR LAUNCHES ONLY DIRECT FLIGHTS BETWEEN THE UK AND ARMENIA

Wizz Air, the fastest-growing European airline and London’s local airline, today celebrates the launch of its new direct route between London Luton Airport (LLA) and Yerevan (EVN) becoming the only airline currently offering direct flights between the United Kingdom and Armenia.
The inaugural flight departed yesterday, providing British travellers with direct access to one of the Caucasus region’s most captivating, but unspoiled destinations while strengthening connectivity between the UK and Armenia.
The launch also follows Wizz Air’s latest Let’s Get Lost campaign, which saw dozens of lucky winners depart LLA on a mystery getaway before discovering Yerevan as their final destination upon arrival. Designed to encourage travellers to look beyond traditional holiday hotspots, the campaign gave participants a first-hand taste of Armenia’s capital through local food, cultural experiences and neighbourhood tours. The overwhelmingly positive response highlighted Yerevan’s growing appeal as an alternative city break destination, offering visitors a unique blend of ancient history, vibrant culture and outstanding value.
One of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities, Yerevan blends ancient heritage with a dynamic modern culture. Yerevan is known for its distinctive pink stone architecture, thriving café culture and lively public squares. Visitors can explore museums, galleries and markets while using the capital as a gateway to Armenia’s dramatic mountain landscapes, historic monasteries and renowned hospitality.
Flights between LLA and Yerevan operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays throughout the year, with fares starting from £45.99 one way.
Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director of Wizz Air UK, said: “Today marks an exciting moment for Wizz Air as we launch the UK’s only direct route to Armenia, opening up a destination that remains largely undiscovered by British travellers. At Wizz Air, we’re committed to making travel more accessible and helping our customers explore beyond the obvious. Yerevan is a city rich in history, culture and character, offering an incredible experience for travellers looking for something different, all at an affordable price. The response to our Let’s Get Lost campaign showed there is real appetite among travellers to step outside their comfort zones and discover destinations they may never have previously considered. We’re proud to be making Armenia more accessible than ever before and can’t wait to welcome more passengers on board as they experience everything this remarkable country has to offer.”
Alberto Martin, Chief Executive Officer at London Luton Airport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Wizz Air’s new service to Yerevan, marking the UK’s first direct link to Armenia and further strengthening London Luton Airport’s increasingly diverse route network. This exciting new destination in the South Caucasus is a unique city that offers a fascinating cultural scene of contrasts to suit all tastes. As well as reinforcing our long-standing partnership with Wizz Air, the addition of Yerevan to our departure boards signals our commitment to offer even greater choice as part of our simple and friendly passenger experience.”
Tickets for flights between LLA and Yerevan are available now on wizzair.com and via the WIZZ mobile app. In addition to Wizz Air’s already ultra low fares, passengers can add WIZZ Flex to their bookings during the booking process, giving them added flexibility should their travel plans change.
