WIZZ AIR ACQUIRES LONDON LUTON AIRPORT SLOTS FROM TUI, LAUNCHING ITS 15TH BASED AIRCRAFT

Wizz Air today announces it has successfully acquired slots from TUI Airways at London Luton Airport. The deal means Wizz Air UK, London’s low-cost airline, will base an additional Airbus A321 neo aircraft to London Luton, bringing the total aircraft based at the airport to 15.

As the largest operator at London Luton airport, Wizz Air continues to grow alongside the town, reinforcing its long-term commitment by connecting people, creating jobs, and opening doors to opportunity.

Six new routes announced

From summer 2026, Wizz Air customers will be able to reach six new destinations from London Luton: Yerevan, Alicante, Lyon, Corfu, Faro and Turin.

Operating five weekly flights to Alicante and four to Faro, Wizz Air is boosting connectivity to some of the most popular holiday destinations, offering UK travellers greater flexibility and affordable travel options.

The launch of Yerevan, Armenia’s vibrant capital, introduces brand-new connectivity between Armenia and the UK. This previously unserved route will now benefit from Wizz Air’s direct, non-stop flights, offering travellers easy access to this captivating destination.

The airline is excited to announce the addition of Corfu as its fifth Greek island destination, joining the previously announced WIZZ-destinations of Chania, Rhodes, Mykonos, and Zakynthos. In addition, Wizz Air is expanding its route network to include year-round services to Lyon and Turin, offering travelers more flexibility beyond the winter ski season.

Christmas shoppers can take advantage of Wizz Air’s Flex service, which allows travellers to change their flight’s date, time, or destination online up to 3 hours before departure, meaning they don’t need to worry about a last minute change in plans.

Tickets available on wizzair.com and via Wizz Air’s official mobile app.

The new routes come as Wizz Air continues to expand its operations at London Luton Airport even further with the addition of a 15th aircraft to its Luton base, having announced its 14th aircraft earlier in the month. From next summer Wizz Air will connect UK travellers to 66 destinations from the airport, highlighting the airline’s continued expansion in the UK and its focus on affordable travel from London.
Yvonne Moynihan, Managing Director at Wizz Air UK, stated: “This announcement underlines our continued commitment to London Luton Airport and the wider UK market. As we expand our presence, we are creating local jobs and delivering on our Customer First Compass promise - providing low fare travel opportunities to an exciting range of destinations using our latest-generation aircraft.

“Finally, we would like to wish all our valued customers and our amazing crew a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year”.
Simon Harley, Interim Director of Aeronautical Revenue at London Luton Airport, commented: “2025 is drawing to a close after another successful year at London Luton Airport, and we’re already excited for what is set to be a bumper summer 2026. With the addition of six further new Wizz Air routes including the up-and-coming, and previously unserved from LLA, capital of Armenia, Yerevan, alongside other popular holiday and city break destinations to Alicante, Lyon, Corfu, Faro and Turin, this demonstrates how LLA’s partnership with Wizz Air continues to provide even greater choice and a simple, friendly passenger experience for the millions of people who choose to travel from LLA each year.”
