WestJet launches Calgary’s first non-stop service to Nashville

WestJet is starting a new service between Calgary and Nashville, becoming the only Canadian carrier featuring non-stop service from western Canada to Metropolitan Nashville Airport.

“It’s a great day for western Canadians and Calgarians, who now have twice-weekly, non-stop access to one of the United States’ top destinations - Nashville,” said Brian Znotins, WestJet vice president network planning, alliances and corporate development.

“With the Toronto service, and now Calgary, we provide easy access to Nashville from the entire Canadian network.

“With more flights and destinations served nonstop from Calgary than any other airline, combined with our low fares and caring service, this newest route is further proof of WestJet’s continued commitment to not only providing more travel options, but providing unique travel options while liberating Canadians from the high cost of air travel.”

WestJet began service to Nashville from Toronto in 2016 and currently flies daily on WestJet Encore.

“WestJet is a valued partner and we are pleased to see them continue to succeed in growing their services out of YYC’s International Terminal,” said Bob Sartor, president, The Calgary Airport Authority.

“This new connection from Calgary to Nashville is a welcome addition to our airport’s route network, and we believe Albertans, who share Nashville’s reputation for warm hospitality, will welcome the new service to Music City.”

Flights from Calgary to Nashville will be operated on WestJet’s Boeing 737 aircraft featuring the enhanced Plus product and WestJet Connect, WestJet’s inflight entertainment system, which is accessed directly through smartphones, tablets or computers.

Guests on WestJet Connect aircraft can enjoy more than 500 hours of free entertainment, as well as the ability to purchase high-speed Internet packages. Almost 80 per cent of WestJet’s Boeing fleet is now equipped with WestJet Connect.

“We are delighted to celebrate WestJet’s launch of Calgary service from Nashville International Airport today,” said Rob Wigington, chief executive, Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.

“Today’s new service is the second route WestJet has added here in less than a year and BNA’s very first nonstop flight to Calgary.

“We look forward to many more celebrations in the future with our WestJet partners.”
