Wembley to host 2013 Champions League final

Wembley stadium in London will stage the 2013 Champions League it has been confirmed by UEFA.

It will be just two years since the stadium last held the event, after hosting this year’s match between Barcelona and Manchester United.

The match had been awarded to Wembley to mark the English FA’s 150th anniversary, UEFA president Michel Platini said.

Platini said UEFA had also been impressed with the organisation at this year’s match.

He had earlier apologised for the high cost of tickets at this year’s final, with some fans facing prices running into hundreds of pounds.

“This may seem exceptional but I think it was important for us to respect this anniversary of our game,” said Platini.
