United Airlines, Currensea and Mastercard launch UK-first loyalty debit card for frequent flyers
United Airlines, in partnership with Currensea, the market-leading payments technology platform for co-branded multi-bank debit cards, and Mastercard, today announced the launch of the United AirlinesSM Debit Card, the first ever rewards debit card offered to UK travellers by a U.S. airline.
Available now, the United Airlines Debit Card can be linked to any existing UK bank account and allows customers to earn miles and exclusive travel benefits from United on all their day-to-day spending, at home and abroad, making it easier than ever to earn United MileagePlusSM miles, access exclusive travel rewards and enjoy outstanding exchange rates when spending abroad.
The launch of this new card reflects United’s continued focus on offering customers more value, flexibility and seamless ways to engage with the MileagePlus programme and builds on the airline’s recent announcement of enhanced benefits for United MileagePlusSM credit or debit cardholders. Beginning 2 April 2026, holders of eligible United-brand credit or debit card will benefit from accelerated mileage earning when booking flights with United, as well as discounts of 10 per cent or more on award tickets and access to exclusive Saver Award fares. With the United Airlines Debit Card, UK travellers can take advantage of these enhanced rewards when travelling with United, while continuing to earn miles across all other spending, without needing to open a new bank account or top up a separate card.
Bob Daly, Managing Director, Global Co-Brand Cards, United Airlines said: “The UK is one of United’s most important international markets, and we’re continually looking for new ways to deliver greater value to our customers here. With the launch of our first UK debit card, we’re giving customers a simple, flexible way to earn MileagePlus miles on everyday spending — whether they’re at home or travelling abroad. This partnership with Currensea and Mastercard allows us to extend the benefits of the United MileagePlusSM programme beyond travel and into our customers’ daily lives.”
James Lynn, Co-Founder and CEO of Currensea, said: “We’re thrilled to be working with United Airlines and Mastercard to bring the first US airline rewards debit card to the UK. It means people in the UK can earn free flights, higher membership status and other perks as a reward for their usual day-to-day debit spending, as well as benefiting from the recent enhancements to the MileagePlus programme when booking United flights. With the new United Airlines Debit Card, customers can enjoy world-class benefits and some of the very best foreign exchange rates on overseas spending, all without changing their existing bank accounts.”

This launch brings British consumers better value, choice and rewards.”
