The Tyson’s Corner Marriott recently completed the final phase of a multi-million dollar redesign that adds modern polish and savvy updates to nearly every facet of the guest experience, including guest rooms, lobby, Grand Ballroom, meeting rooms, concierge lounge, fitness center, indoor pool and Shula’s Steak House.

The hotel’s 396 new guest rooms and suites are designed to encourage comfort and optimize convenience. A refreshing green palette mingles with rich textures to provide a calming retreat inspired by nature. New beds featuring Marriott’s signature plush linens and feather pillows are perfectly positioned to view a high-definition flat-screen television. LED reading lights on the headboard and additional outlet accessibility at the desk make work a relaxing affair. Upgraded furniture, drapery, carpet and bathroom represent a dramatic shift. Other enhancements include a mini refrigerator, iHome docking station and in-room safe. Wireless Internet access is available along with wired access in guest rooms, and is complimentary in the lobby.

Guest rooms feature custom artwork by local photographer Laury Katz, who captured the region’s iconic monuments and architecture in unique and unexpected ways. Subjects include the Jefferson and Lincoln Memorials, Washington cherry blossoms, Capitol Building, Library of Congress and Memorial Bridge.

In 2010, the 4,680 sq.-ft. Grand Ballroom was completely updated with modern décor and high-tech amenities, making it the focal point of 9,731 sq. ft. of total meeting space, including 15 meeting rooms and up to 10 breakout meeting rooms. The ballroom seats up to 750 guests and features $800,000 in new lighting and state-of-the-art audio/visual options. The hotel also features a well-equipped fitness center, indoor swimming pool and whirlpool, and the acclaimed Shula’s Steak House.
