Turkish Airlines signs exclusive three-year deal with SDL

SDL today announced that Turkish Airlines, a member of Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline group, has chosen SDL to help drive international sales by providing the best possible online customer experience for new customers across 10 additional key markets.

Turkish Airline’s ambitious growth strategy mirrors the importance of exports to the Turkish economy and will enable it to contribute to the country’s overall goal of increasing annual Turkish exports to $500bn by 2023. In an exclusive three year contract, SDL will work collaboratively with Turkish Airlines to deliver consistent, high-quality website communications in 10 new languages including Russian, Chinese and Arabic.

Turkish Airlines embarked on a stringent evaluation process to find its ideal localisation partner. With a lengthy criteria list, quality was the most important factor to ensure the protection of its brand through consistent communications.

“We chose SDL due to the strength of our relationship with the local office and the fact that SDL offers an in-house translation model as opposed to a freelancer model,” explains Cengiz Degirmeci, Online Sales & Marketing Director at Turkish Airlines. “We strongly believe that in-house native-speaking subject matter experts deliver the highest standards of language and cultural awareness, resulting in the most effective communications for our local markets.”

“We are delighted to welcome Turkish Airlines to the SDL community,” says Tolga Secilmis, SDL Global Solutions General Manager in Turkey. “There was an obvious synergy between SDL and Turkish Airlines from the outset in our joint quest to optimise quality at all times. Our goal is to assist with driving international revenue, accelerating time-to-market and guaranteeing a ‘local’ experience in each of Turkish Airline’s global markets.”
