Thomson Sport reaping UEFA 2012 rewards
With just under 200 days to go until UEFA Euro 2012 kicks off, Thomson Sport has seen an unprecedented 80 per cent increase in enquiries compared to the equivalent period before the 2008 UEFA European Football Championship.
As licensed tour operator for the event, Thomson Sport will be operating the England and Republic of Ireland fan travel programmes to Poland and Ukraine.
Although travel packages will not be on sale until after the draw for the final tournament on December 2nd, Thomson Sport has already had a large number of fans pre-registering their interest to ensure they are among the first to find out full details.
Marc Bennett, managing director of TUI Travel’s Sport Division, which includes Thomson Sport, said: “We have seen unprecedented demand for this event and we look forward to ensuring fans see and live the full tournament experience.
“The advantage of booking with Thomson Sport, a fully bonded tour operator, is that we can offer security, local representation and knowledge.
“We have a proven track record at a variety of sporting events so fans will be able to relax knowing they are in experienced and trusted hands.”
More than 1.4 million supporters are expected to travel to Poland and Ukraine for the 14th UEFA European Football Championship between June 8th and July 1st 2012.
There will be a total of 31 matches held in eight stadiums - Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland and Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv and Kyiv in Ukraine.
This will be the last time just 16 teams compete in the final tournament as the number is set to increase to 24 in 2016.
