The Nest at Glenapp Castle Opens - Scotland’s Newest, Unique Luxury Nature Sanctuary is Revealed
Glenapp Castle, the 21-bedroom Relais & Châteaux hotel on the Ayrshire coast, has opened and unveiled the first imagery of The Nest, its new standalone one-bedroom Garden Cottage Suite set within the estate’s historic 1830s walled garden. Designed as a secluded nature sanctuary, the suite features a separate bedroom with a super king-size bed that can be twinned, and a sitting room with a sofa bed. It’s also home to the largest bathroom at the Castle, complete with a roll-top bath and a generous walk-in shower.
Guests arrive at Glenapp Castle and are met by the personal concierge team before a gentle walk or short, under a minute buggy ride from the main Castle into the gardens. From the outset, the experience shifts in pace as guests enter a world of landscape, stillness and seclusion. Hidden behind private gates, the accommodation sits within a sheltered Victorian landscape shaped by seasonal planting, birdsong and shifting coastal light. The soundscape of nuthatches, treecreepers and flowing water defines the atmosphere, and vast night skies extend the sense of escape beyond its immediate surroundings.

The suite has been designed as an extension of its setting, where natural textures and a soft tonal palette reflect the landscape beyond. A fluid layout between bedroom and sitting room, alongside generous garden-facing windows, draws nature into the space and reinforces a sense of unhurried rest and reconnection. Self-care is central to the experience, with a secluded garden that is not visible to others, featuring a private sauna and natural barrel cold plunge for restorative hot-and-cold immersion. It also has an outdoor shower located next to the sauna, with robes, towels and flip-flops provided for guests.
The Nest is designed for complete ease, with thoughtful in-room provisions, discreet housekeeping throughout the day, and intuitive service ensuring comfort is quietly maintained. Across the wider 110-acre estate, guests can also enjoy forest bathing, wild swimming, yoga, foraging and woodland walks to enhance the experience.
