The M Collective now represents The Fifth Avenue Hotel in New York City’s NoMad neighbourhood, across the UK and EMEA markets.
Having opened its doors in October 2023, the hotel has quickly cemented itself as a new vision of intuitive and imaginative hospitality for domestic and international guests. Our partnership comes at an exciting time, as New York City celebrates Fifth Avenue’s 200th anniversary.
A historic landmark, The Fifth Avenue Hotel is set in a heritage building on one of New York City’s most storied streets. With 153 rooms and suites, The Fifth Avenue
Hotel is a place for discovery and serendipity that pays homage to the legacy of those who resided on Fifth Avenue.
PAST: The Fifth Avenue Hotel is built on the former estate of Mrs. Charlotte Goodridge, a legendary Gilded Age hostess whose home was the epicentre of culture and discourse in 19th-century New York City. Later, the Second National Bank acquired the mansion and enlisted McKim, Mead & White – renowned architects behind Penn Station and the Washington Square Arch – to level the original structure and design something that fit the neighbourhood’s elegant architectural character. Their vision turned into the five-story, Italian Renaissance palazzo-style structure that today is The Fifth Avenue Hotel.

… & PRESENT: Today, following a 10-year restoration by Flâneur Hospitality, the original brick and limestone Renaissance-style palazzo is complemented by a shimmering 24-story modern glass tower. The two impressive edifices embody the marriage of classic, sumptuous luxury and sophisticated innovation. Proprietor Alex Ohebshalom has travelled the globe collecting experiences, memories, and treasures, and has distilled them into a vision of warm and gracious hospitality abundant in sensory delights.

GASTRONOMY: The culinary experience at The Fifth is led by James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini through his signature restaurant Café Carmellini and The Portrait Bar.
CAFÉ CARMELLINI: Epitomising timeless fine dining, Café Carmellini is a striking beacon distinguished by its exquisite interiors, stately architecture, and romantic atmosphere. Carmellini’s deeply personal menu marries Italian and French sensibilities with a classic New York feel.
THE PORTRAIT BAR: Led by industry veteran Darryl Chan, this intimate cocktail bar is centred around a grand stone-carved fireplace, reminiscent of an Italian villa. The interiors are defined by a sea of more than 75 one-of-a-kind portraits – photographs, watercolours, sketches, and sculptures – gazing out from dark wood-panelled walls, as if in conversation with one another. The globetrotting menu is inspired by international travel, and pairs perfectly with elevated bar fare from the kitchen of chef Andrew Carmellini.

DESIGN: In a place where maximalist style meets a spellbinding collection of artwork by emerging and established artists, The Fifth Avenue Hotel was designed by the acclaimed Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. The thoughtful yet eclectic design flows throughout the hotel, from the guest rooms and suites in a rich colour palette of garden greens, buttercup yellows and peony pinks to the double-height entrance lobby featuring walls panelled with faceted antique mirrors, marble floors and grand arched windows.
