Sebastian Vettel storms to victory in Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel stormed to victory in the 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the magnificent Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The stunning victory in the United Arab Emirates marked Vettel’s seventh win in a row and 11th of the season.

Mark Webber finished second with Nico Rosberg completing the podium positions for Mercedes. Romain Grosjean took fourth place for Lotus, with Fernando Alonso crossing the line fifth for Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton, the 2008 world champion, finished in seventh place for Mercedes.

He commented: “My race just didn’t quite come together and I’m not really sure why as I gave it my all out there.”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was being staged for the fifth time this year with the Yas Marina Circuit again playing host to the event, with UAE flag-carrier Etihad Airways again acting as headline sponsor.

The event provides the highlight of the sporting calendar in the emirate, with thousands of guests from around the world descending in Abu Dhabi over the weekend.

A host of new hotels have been welcoming guests in the exciting destination.

Earlier this year British actor Jude Law, the heart-throb star of countless Hollywood hits, swapped red carpets for chequered flags on a recent trip to Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit - the futuristic home of the emirate’s annual Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

“Jude was bowled over by the entire experience – he was a natural racer,” said a Yas Marina Circuit insider.
