Royal Caribbean announces diverse retail line-up for World’s largest cruise ship

Royal Caribbean International’s newest ship, Oasis of the Seas, will feature 13 retail stores, including an open-air shopping space that covers more than 10,000 square feet.  With many products exclusive to Oasis of the Seas, stores range from children and teen-favoured shops to jewellery and duty-free stores for adults.

Not only will Oasis of the Seas provide the broadest selection of boutiques and shops ever seen at sea, but several international brands also will be making their cruise industry debut including luxury leather goods retailer, Coach.  Located in the Central Park neighbourhood, the Coach store will showcase designer handbags, leather goods, sunglasses and scarves.

 

Among the recognisable jewellery and clothing designers establishing a presence at sea for the first time are Breitling watches, Italian jewellery designer Pianegonda, Lucky Brand, Eileen Fisher, DC Apparel and Forest & Fauna, makers of 100% organic t-shirts and garments.  Oasis of the Seas also will carry a number of brands never before seen in the Royal Caribbean International fleet, including jewellery from Roberto Coin, Charriol and Yvel, as well as offer long-time cruise line favourites, such as cosmetics by iconic brands Chanel and Christian Dior.

The next generation of cruise enthusiasts will have their choice of stores throughout the family entertainment focused Boardwalk neighbourhood. Star Pier will be an interactive, hybrid shop featuring an electronics wall adorned in the latest technology, tween and teen apparel by Roxy, Quiksilver and DC Apparel, as well as a DJ station and Nintendo Wii game area.

 

Younger cruisers will be drawn to Pinwheels including everything from Crayola gifts to a dedicated games area equipped with a number of popular options. Candy Beach will be the ultimate boardwalk sweet shop, offering more than 72 varieties to mix and match into a customised candy bag, as well as vintage candy treats from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

New shopping options onboard Oasis of the Seas include:

 

·      Central Park

To celebrate the grand opening, Coach will offer a special gift with each purchase – an exclusive leather luggage tag in luxe parchment, embossed with the iconic horse and carriage logo in gold

 

·      Royal Promenade

The trendy fashion boutique vibe, Prince & Green, offers clothing and accessories for men and women, all with an electric urban edge. Labels include Betsey Johnson, Calypso and Kenneth Cole for women and Fred Perry, Ed Hardy, Marc Jacobs and Ben Sherman for men.

 

One of Oasis of the Seas’ most opulent boutiques, Regalia, is home to iconic names in fine jewellery and timepieces, Regalia brands include Tag Heuer, Roberto Coin, Pianegonda, Olivia and more.

 

Solera is one of two duty-free stores along The Royal Promenade, with Solera as the official store for guests’ cosmetics, skincare and fragrance needs. Featured brands include Chanel, Dior, La Prairie, Lancôme, Shiseido, as well as cutting-edge “doctor-brand” regimens.

 

In contrast to the high-fashion finds at Prince & Green, Willow features casual sportswear for guests. Natural linen and organic clothing options for men and women from brands such as Eileen Fisher, JMP, and Forest & Fauna. Willow also will offer products from the World of Good line whose proceeds benefit non-profit organisations around the world. The store also will feature ethnically sourced gifts and products that are supported by the World of Good organisation.

 

·      Boardwalk

Candy Beach is the ultimate candy store, or sweet shop, offering more than 72 varieties of candy for mixing and matching. Vintage candy treats from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s are also available.

 

The hand-carved carousel onboard Oasis of the Seas is undoubtedly one of the most unique features on the ship. After paying the carousel a visit, guests can browse the selection of accessories and souvenirs that celebrate this nostalgic pastime from the Carousel Cart.

 

Pinwheels features a range of clothing and accessories for children of all ages. Brands such as Crayola as well as Royal Caribbean International merchandise in children’s are all offered.  Pinwheels also hosts a play area equipped with a number of other popular games for children.

 

Star Pier is a hybrid of all things for tweens and teens from clothing labels including Roxy, Quiksilver, and DC Apparel to an electronic games and accessories outpost alive with a DJ station and Wii game area.

 

·      The Pool and Sports Zone

An open-air shop located on the pool deck, Breeze is conveniently stocked with books, sunglasses, tote bags, and sun care products.

 

When she launches in late 2009, Oasis of the Seas, will be the largest and most revolutionary cruise ship in the world.  An architectural marvel at sea, she will span 16 decks, encompass 225,282 gross registered tons (GRT), carry 5,400 guests at double occupancy, and feature 2,700 staterooms.  Oasis of the Seas will be the first ship to tout the cruise line’s new neighbourhood concept of seven distinct themed areas, which include Central Park, Boardwalk, the Royal Promenade, the Pool and Sports Zone, Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center and Entertainment Place.  The ship will sail from her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
