RELAIS & CHÂTEAUX MEMBERS GENERATED £2.8 billion IN COMBINED REVENUE IN 2025

Relais & Châteaux has published the consolidated results of its 2025 annual business survey, based on declarations from 94% of its members. With combined revenue reaching over £2.8 billion, the Association reports sustained year-on-year growth of +7% compared with 2024, underscoring the strength of a resilient model grounded in the authenticity of its properties, excellence in hospitality and gastronomy, and long-term commitments.

In the United Kingdom, members* participating in the survey generated £133 million in revenue in 2025. In Ireland, over the same time period, the 6 members** reported combined revenue of £37 million.

A Controlled Network Growth Strategy, Without Compromising Identity

As part of its network development strategy, the Association welcomed 34 new members in 2025. Spread across the 65 countries where Relais & Châteaux is located, these new properties illustrate a geographically balanced expansion across all five continents: from Asia (India, Japan), where the Association aims to further strengthen its presence, to Europe (France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Croatia, Scotland), the Americas (Guatemala, Brazil, Canada, United States, Argentina), Africa (South Africa, Egypt), and emblematic island destinations (Bahamas, French Polynesia), reflecting a diversified and strategically balanced development approach. In the United Kingdom in 2025, the Association welcomed two members in Scotland: Prestonfield House in Edinburgh and The Torridon in the Highlands.

Beyond network expansion, Relais & Châteaux pursues a policy of measured growth, based on the careful selection of unique properties embodying excellence and authenticity, where quality consistently takes precedence over scale. This positioning also contributes to the strong attractiveness of the Association among boutique hotel and restaurant owners: in 2025, the number of applications increased by 14% compared with 2024, rising from 540 to 615 candidates.

A Consistent Balance Between Hospitality And Gastronomy, A Structural Economic Pillar

In 2025, Relais & Châteaux continued to operate within a historically balanced economic model structured around its two core pillars: accommodation, accounting for 51% of global sales revenue, and food & beverage, representing 41%, with the remainder generated by spa and ancillary activities (experiences, retail products, etc.). This stable breakdown confirms the central, structuring role of gastronomy within the Association. It reflects a strong positioning in high-level cuisine, supported by one of the world’s largest communities of gastronomic chefs, whose commitment to terroir and biodiversity remains a strong driver of attractiveness.

Culinary Trends Among Standalone Restaurants: Creativity, Moderation And Environmental Commitments

About 15% of Relais & Châteaux members are restaurants without rooms, dedicated to pursuing the highest excellence of gastronomy in harmony with all life on Earth. This group of around 80 restaurants provides a unique window into the current trends at the top of the global culinary industry, with responses to the Business Survey coming from restaurants across 24 countries, accounting for nearly £274 million of annual business revenue.

As part of their sustainability commitments, Relais & Châteaux chefs are dedicated to showcasing the essential role that the environment, food, and cuisine play in our health and to promoting quality food products. In 2025, 63% of Relais & Châteaux standalone restaurants increased their local and hyper‑local sourcing, while 41% expanded their vegetarian and vegan offerings, responding to increasingly clear and demanding guest expectations.

While 20% of standalone restaurant members simplified or shortened their menus, the gastronomic experience remains at the heart of the value proposition: they declare that 80% of their guests now favor the tasting menu over à la carte options, an increase of +1.3% compared to 2024. This shift goes hand in hand with changing beverage consumption habits, with 34% of standalone restaurant members reporting a decline in alcohol sales, compared to a rise in non‑alcoholic beverage sales of 50%. Today, 77% of standalone restaurant members offer non‑alcoholic pairings. These are primarily based on teas and juices, served in over 70% of cases, meanwhile 55% further expanded their non-alcoholic offerings in 2025. Such figures illustrate a more conscious, creative and sustainable approach to gastronomy, without compromising on excellence.

An International Clientele At The Core Of Growth, Driven By The United States

In regards to source markets, American clients represent the leading contributor to Relais & Châteaux’s performance, accounting for 42% of total revenue generated by travellers staying at member properties. In second position, the French market represents 11% of members’ combined business revenue, reflecting both the historical roots of Relais & Châteaux - founded in France more than 70 years ago - and the high density of the network within the country. The United Kingdom ranks third, followed by Germany, respectively accounting for 9% and 5% of global combined revenue.

Europe therefore remains a key market for the Association, underpinned by a dense and well-established network. For the UK properties, 68% of guests are domestic, 14% come from the US, and 2% from France. Within Irish properties, 52% of guests are domestic, 37% come from the US, and 6% from the UK.

“Relais & Châteaux continues to assert itself as a global reference in excellence-driven hospitality and gastronomy. The results recorded in 2025 primarily reflect the commitments of members who bring singular properties to life, deeply rooted in their landscapes. They underscore the relevance of a demanding model in which quality, authenticity, hospitality and gastronomy are the true drivers of performance and long-term attractiveness. These results also illustrate the evolution of a model in which hospitality goes beyond service to become a way of inhabiting the world,” states Laurent Gardinier, President of Relais & Châteaux.

These results confirm the strength of an international network that, faithful to its founding values, continues to combine excellence, meaning and sustainable attractiveness on a global scale.
