Recently ranked among the world’s most beautiful cities in Time Out’s 2026 survey*, Lisbon is inviting visitors to experience its vibrant cultural scene through a season of world-class music festivals. Ageas Cooljazz’26
When: Until July 31
Nestled among the heritage sites of Cascais on Lisbon’s coast, Ageas Cooljazz offers a unique blend of music, nature and comfort. This year’s line-up includes British musician Loyle Carner and Scottish band Franz Ferdinand. With four performances each night, the festival is a soothing balm to the soul, inviting visitors to bask in the harmonious interplay of jazz, soul, blues and contemporary sounds beneath Cascais’s starlit sky. Jazz em Agosto
When: July 31 to August 9
Now in its 42nd edition, Jazz em Agosto returns to the leafy gardens of Lisbon’s Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian for 10 days of contemporary and experimental jazz. One of Europe’s leading festivals of its kind, this year’s programme features artists including Joachim Kühn, Anna Webber, Ches Smith and Lisbon Underground Music Ensemble (LUME), bringing together pioneering artists from Portugal and around the world in an intimate open-air setting. Operafest Lisboa & Oeiras

Staged across some of Lisbon and Oeiras’s most striking cultural venues, Lisbon’s avant-garde summer opera festival returns this year under the theme Enigma, celebrating the centenary of Puccini’s unfinished opera Turandot alongside Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. The programme also features new works, Cine-Opera screenings and the Maratona Ópera XXI competition, blending opera’s rich heritage with contemporary creativity. MEO Kalorama
When: 28-30 August
Taking place in Parque da Bela Vista, one of the city’s largest urban parks, the festival returns for its fifth edition, spanning three nights with headliners including Robbie Williams, Ms Lauryn Hill and Deftones. MEO Kalorama isn’t just about the music - it also champions sustainability, accessibility and inclusion, with initiatives including renewable fuels, reusable cups, free drinking water refill stations and food donation programmes, making it an eco-conscious choice for environmentally minded music lovers. Caixa Alfama

Set in the historic Alfama district, the festival brings together acclaimed fadistas and emerging talent for performances across churches, museums and other historic venues.
