Railways and Government of Rajasthan Sign New Line Project

Ministry of Railways and Government of Rajasthan today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on implementing 176 kilometres Ratlam-Banswara- Dungurpur new line project. Chairman, Railway Board, Shri Vivek Sahai and Chief Secretary, Government of Rajasthan, Shri S. Ahmad were the signatories to the MoU.

The new line on completion will help accelerate the economic growth of the region. Rajasthan Government has planned to set up Thermal Power Projects in this area. The proposed new line will help in the moment of coal movement for thermal power plants. The new line will also serve as an impetus of development of this socially and economically backward area inhabited by tribal people.

The estimated project cost of this new line project is about Rs. 2083 crore. Fifty percent of the cost of the project will be borne by the Railways and fifty per cent by Government of Rajasthan (excluding land cost). The land cost will be borne entirely by Government of Rajasthan.
