PASS consulting expands rail offering with SilverRail deal

PASS Consulting Group has integrated SilverRail’s rail search and booking platform into its travel management system greatly expanding its rail offer.

In addition to Deutsche Bahn, PASS clients can now book rail travel in the USA, Canada, UK, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Italy and Sweden through one standardised system.

“All-encompassing access to rail is currently a very attractive prospect for many of our globally active customers,” explained Michael Strauss, head of the travel business unit at PASS.

“We have already integrated the SilverRail platform into the travel management system for a large international financial institute and have seen a strong uptake in bookings.”

SilverRail’s technology not only provides PASS and its customers with access to rail journey planners, search and booking capabilities, it also standardises and simplifies the process.

Currently there is no uniform international naming convention for railway stations, and fare classes, terms and conditions vary from operator to operator, making it difficult for people who aren’t familiar with the rail system in one country to know what to search for and book when it comes to travelling by rail in a different country.

SilverRail has introduced a uniform system to ensure customers can be confident they are booking the right journey with the appropriate fare class whether they are travelling on home soil or abroad.

“It is our vision to interconnect all of the world’s rail companies and create a global market place,” said William Phillipson, executive vice president at SilverRail Technologies.

“PASS and SilverRail share a common belief that with the strong investment in high speed rail around the globe, the demand to be able to book rail travel online and through travel firms will only grow.”
