Online Travel Agency launches £1 deposits for hotel bookings

One of the leading online independent travel agencies in the UK has announced a new scheme that will enable customers booking hotels through the site to secure the booking with a low deposit of just £1. This will be for a limited time only and has been launched to coincide with the busiest holiday booking period of the year, earlier this week.

With 2013 well and truly here, bringing with it an influx of holiday bookings to beat the January blues, a leading online independent travel agency in the UK has launched low deposits on hotel-only bookings of just £1; with the full balance due 4 weeks before travel.

For a limited time only, www.sunshine.co.uk will be offering the low deposits on hotel-only bookings abroad; meaning customers can find suitable accommodation for a holiday online and secure the booking with just £1.00. Whilst many travel agencies now offer low deposits, few offer options as low as £1.00 to secure bookings.

Low deposits are also available on certain flight and hotel bookings too, identifiable by a low deposit flag in the search results. Site users can see the deposit amount due on a hotel-only or flight and hotel booking in the cost breakdown in the search results during the booking process.

For hotel-only bookings with £1 deposits, the balance payments are due 4 weeks before travel, with a slightly earlier payment date to settle up hotel and flight bookings. The new £1 deposit scheme has been launched to coincide with the busiest holiday booking period of the year, with the busiest day for sunshine.co.uk and many other travel agencies on Monday 7th January 2013.

Chris Clarkson, co-founder of sunshine.co.uk, said the following about the £1 deposits:

“Let’s face it, January is a horrible month; Christmas seems like it never even happened, the weather is miserable and our bank balances have taken a serious hit from the festive period. It’s for these reasons that this week is such a popular time for holiday bookings; people turn to credit cards or overdrafts to secure a holiday to look forward to and are searching for low deposit booking policies that mean they won’t have to part with much cash now, but can still have something to look forward to.

“It’s for this reason that we’ve decided to introduce £1 deposits on hotel-only bookings. This means that, now, our customers can find a place to stay that they like the look of and get it all booked officially so that the January blues are banished. Some of our flight and hotel deals have really low deposits too, but we’re hoping this £1 scheme will make it easier for customers overall. The so called ‘Sunshine Sunday’ was a record day for us, but yesterday was even bigger and better thanks to the launch of our £1 deposits.”
