New tourism minister for Trinidad & Tobago

Shamfa Cudjoe has been appointed to the role of Trinidad & Tobago’s new minister of tourism.
Her appointment follows the recent elections and change of government on the twin island nation.
Originally from Tobago, minister Cudjoe is excited by her new portfolio - and her initial priorities will focus on improving transportation links between Trinidad and Tobago as well as developing initiatives to improve the local tourism product.
Trinidad, the ‘cultural capital of the Caribbean,’ is home to the world famous Carnival and the birthplace of the limbo and steel pan drum.
Ranked the happiest nation in the Caribbean by the United Nations’ World Happiness Report, in 2013 and 2015, the destination offers a distinct and harmonious blend of cultures, eclectic cuisine and environmental treasures.
Tobago, sister island to Trinidad, is the quintessential Caribbean island with secluded beaches, quaint villages, private villas and award-winning eco-attractions that include the Main Ridge Rainforest, the oldest protected reserve in the western hemisphere.
