New representation as Maldives looks to expand UK presence
Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation has appointed the UK’s leading travel and lifestyle PR agency, Rooster, to promote the Indian Ocean destination.
Rooster is tasked with maximising visitors from the UK and promoting the image of the idyllic destination in the face of current political turbulence experienced in the region.
The Maldives is renowned for its 1,190 coral islands formed around 26 natural ring-like atolls, spread over 90,000 square kilometres.
With turquoise reefs, white sand and palm-lined shores, the Maldives is a luxury resort destination and a geographical marvel boasting an abundance of marine life and vibrant corals.
“After a highly competitive pitch, Rooster was a clear choice to take on the Maldives’ representation across the UK, one of our most important markets,” said Mohamed Adam, acting managing director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.
“The political instability faced in the Maldives at the moment is marring the image of this booming holiday destination and the reality is that the exclusivity of the majority of the islands means that the peaceful paradise people expect from the Maldives is entirely unaffected.”
The country is popular with leisure-seekers, honeymooners, water sports enthusiasts and visitors looking to experience the underwater beauty and diversity of more than 3,000 coral reefs.
The islands receive visitors year-round due to the consistently balmy climate, warm seas and average of ten hours of sunshine per day.
