New leadership for Marriott properties in Doha

The Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center have announced the appointment of Sam Van Campenhout as hotel manager.

The announcement was made by Ibrahim Barghout, area vice president Middle East, Marriott.

Campenhout’s hotel experience spans over 20 years with a strong foundation in rooms operations and an extensive sales and marketing background, including multiple-unit management.

He has a degree in hotel management and economics and developed a strong understanding of the hotel industry, with his most recent position as the general manager of the Marriott Executive Apartments and Residence Inn Bahrain.

This new opportunity will allow Sam to further utilise his ability to manage multiple brands while strengthening his experience in complex hotel operations.

In this role Sam will report to John Northen, general manager of the three properties. 

Van Campenhout said: “I am very excited to join this dynamic team that led our properties to receive amazing recognition and awards since the opening date.”

Sam is keen to drive tourism to Doha and to have guests of the Renaissance Hotel, Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments Doha City Center explore and discover the amazing State of Qatar.

He is focusing on the five pillars of the Qatar Tourism Authority by aligning the three properties’ services to support the development of these sectors.

Having launched an extensive plan to develop Culture, Meetings, Leisure, Sports and Education, the Qatar Tourism Authority is continuing its ambitious expansions assisted by the presence of internationally valued hotel chains in the likes of the Marriott Group.
