Met steps up security for Jubilee Flotilla

Scotland Yard is planning their biggest ever security operation, in preparation for the Queen’s Jubilee flotilla on Sunday, according to reports.

More than 13,000 police and security are expected to be deployed as the royal barge carries The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwell, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.

Thousands of visitors from the UK and abroad are expected to attend and participate the celebrations in London.

A line of Royal Navy vessels and armed police will be present to protect the royal barge, the Spirit of Chartwell, while underwater searches will be carried out by police frogmen.

The Met is expected to deploy 23 boats, for what will be one of the largest flotillas ever assembled on the river with rowed boats, working boats and pleasure vessels of all shapes and sizes decked out with streamers and Union Flags.
