Madeira welcomes global travel leaders for World Travel Awards Grand Final 2024

Madeira is making final preparations as it steps up to host the World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2024 on 24 November. The leaders of the global travel and tourism industry are gathering in the capital Funchal to find out who amongst them has been voted the industry’s best of the best.

The gala evening marks the climax of WTA’s 2024 Grand Tour, a global search for the best travel and tourism organisations, with regional ceremonies hosted in Berlin, Dubai, Saint Vincent & The Grenadines, Manila and Diani Beach, Kenya. The Grand Final features the WTA regional winners going head-to-head for the prestigious World categories, the highest accolades in the WTA programme. Categories cover the entire spectrum of the industry, ranging from hotels and resorts to airlines and tour operators.

On the same latitude as Morocco, Madeira has a sub-tropical climate and unique eco-system, making it the perfect year-round destination. The Atlantic archipelago is also just a short flight from most European cities.

Graham Cooke, Founder, World Travel Awards, says: “Excitement is building for our Grand Final Gala Ceremony 2024 in Madeira, and I look forward to joining travel industry figureheads from across the world for what promises to be a fabulous event that will live long in everyone’s memory.”

He adds: “Madeira is a destination blessed with incredible landscapes, a fascinating culture and delicious cuisine. This Atlantic jewel is also a world-class example of sensible tourism: a sector that is the engine of the economy but well balanced and managed sustainably.”

Eduardo Jesus, Regional Secretary of Tourism and Culture and President of the Madeira Promotion Bureau, says: “It is a great honour for Madeira to host this important ceremony. The hosting of this event presents itself as a once in a lifetime opportunity to show the world how Madeira is a unique and special destination.”

This week Madeira is also playing host to the 11th annual World Golf Awards, part of the World Travel Awards family. The ceremony is bringing together golf tourism leaders from across the world for what will mark the first World Golf Awards to take place in Madeira.
