Launch of New Transportation Service “JAL de Hako-byun”

JALCARGO and the JR East Group are pleased to announce the launch of a new one-stop transportation service, “JAL de Hako-byun,” which combines the strengths of the Shinkansen high-speed rail network and JAL’s global air cargo network.

Leveraging the JR East Group’s extensive domestic network centered in eastern Japan and JALCARGO’s global air cargo network, the new service will be launched on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. This initiative follows a successful trial shipment from Sendai to Singapore in October 2025, demonstrating the service’s efficiency and reliability. Moving forward, both companies will deepen their collaboration to expand the transportation network and further enhance service offerings.
Highlights:
■Significantly Reduced Lead Time and High Punctuality
By integrating the frequent and punctual Shinkansen train service with JAL’s fast long-distance flights, this service achieves remarkable reductions in transit time compared to conventional transport methods.

■Extensive Network Connectivity
By combining the JR East Group’s regional rail network with JAL’s global air network, the service enables broader international market access, facilitating increased exports of premium local products from Japan.

■Contributing to Societal Challenges
Utilizing rail transport helps address driver shortages and reduces CO₂ emissions through modal shifts, thereby supporting sustainable logistics and environmental goals.
