Knilling becomes chef de cuisine at Mandarin Oriental, Macau

Chef Matthias Knilling has joined Mandarin Oriental, Macau, as its new chef de cuisine.

Born in Germany, his interest in a career in culinary arts started at a very young age. 

Upon graduation, he went on to work in the kitchen of one of Germany’s most famous celebrity chef, Holger Stromberg. 

Thereafter, chef Knilling has worked at the Michelin starred Schloss Elmau, Luxury Spa Retreat & Cultural Hideaway, a luxury five-star hotel in Germany.

He possesses comprehensive expertise in classical cooking for someone at such a young age and he has high ambitions to create innovative menus that to him, should be ‘art on the plate’.

At Vida Rica, chef Knilling will not only be creating a whole new western menu for the restaurant but he will also devise a new menu for Vida Rica Bar featuring all the favourite bar snacks. 

Full of passion and enthusiasm, Knilling hopes to introduce his very own style and finesse to the Macau dining scene.
