Jetstar announces new seasonal route between Darwin and the Gold Coast

Jetstar is adding thousands more low fare seats to its Northern Territory and Queensland network, with a new seasonal service set to take off between Darwin and the Gold Coast later this year.

From 26 June to 24 October 2025, the low-cost-carrier will operate four direct flights per week on its fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft.

The new flights are on sale now at jetstar.com, with one-way sale fares available from $109^.

The service will add more than 25,000 new low fare seats a year, providing an affordable connection between the two holiday hot spots and boosting local tourism.

This announcement comes in addition to Qantas and Jetstar adding more than 95,000 new seats to and from Darwin in 2025, further boosting domestic capacity for the Territory’s capital by 14 per cent compared to the same time last year.

Jetstar CEO, Stephanie Tully said it’s great to be providing more budget friendly holiday options for customers.

“This new seasonal service will provide a direct connection between Darwin and the Gold Coast, eliminating the need for people to transit through other cities and making it much easier and affordable for travellers to fly between the Northern Territory and Queensland,” Ms Tully said.

“Darwin and the Gold Coast are not only amazing cities in their own right but they’re also gateways to spectacular holiday regions - with unique wildlife, stunning scenery and beautiful beaches and swimming spots.

“We thank the Northern Territory Government, Darwin Airport and Gold Coast Airport for their support in launching this new route.”

Minister for Trade, Business and Asian Relations Robyn Cahill said having direct access to key holiday regions improved connectivity for travellers and enhanced the liveability for the Northern Territory.

“Territorians have been asking for more aviation routes and affordable airfares so will be delighted by today’s announcement by Jetstar, who are known to offer low airfares,” Ms Cahill said.

“We are focused on pursuing more aviation services coming into the Territory and will continue to invest in this area.”

Chief Executive Officer, Airport Development Group Tony Edmondstone said “we are delighted to see Jetstar expanding its network to include direct services between Darwin and the Gold Coast.

“This new route strengthens connectivity for the Territory, opening up more travel and tourism opportunities while supporting local businesses.

“We look forward to welcoming more visitors and providing Territorians with greater travel options.”

Queensland Airports Limited CEO Amelia Evans said the new service was a win for convenient connectivity, enabling people to more easily unite with their family and friends.

“We’re delighted to welcome Jetstar’s Darwin service to Gold Coast Airport – an important direct connection to the Northern Territory,” Ms Evans said.

“This new service will enable travellers to enjoy the two destinations more easily, without the need for time-consuming transits.

“Providing more convenient travel options will encourage people to hop on a plane and try out a new city, bringing significant economic and tourism boosts to our local areas.”
