ICTP welcomes Nicaragua as destination member

The International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP) announced that the Asociacion de Hoteles de Nicaragua (ASHOTNIC) – the Nicaragua Hotel Association – has become a destination member and ICTP’s first member from Central America.

Miguel Romero of the Asociacion de Hoteles de Nicaragua said: “We are looking forward to ICTP’s guidance and education in policies and programs that create progressively more sustainable travel and tourism communities, companies, and related visitor actions.

“As of right now, we are in the process of developing our tourism and are looking for partners around the world that identify strategies, innovation, and funding that will support our transformation. We believe in tourism as a factor of sustainable development, and we need to have more technical knowledge to accomplish this.”

“We have been working with some organizations, such as AECI from Spain, as a Central American region, supported by the Council of Tourism Ministers (CCT) from the public sector and FEDECATUR from the private sector.”

ICTP Chairman Juergen T. Steinmetz said: “It give us great pleasure to have the opportunity to welcome tourism destinations that are emerging as sustainable tourism locations. The growing network of ICTP will provide the Nicaragua Hotel Association with connections and resources to assist them with the development of quality tourism service.”
