Icelandair’s inaugural flight to Nashville

Icelandair’s inaugural flight to Nashville

Icelandair has launched a new non-stop seasonal service between Nashville and Iceland. Nashville is Icelandair’s eighteenth destination in North America and the airline will offer four flights a week until the end of October.

The new route will strengthen international ties between Nashville and Iceland, expanding travel opportunities while promoting cultural and economic exchange. The 7-hour flight, operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday utilizes a Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Additionally, travelers can easily connect to Icelandair’s extensive European network.

Nashville’s largest air carrier, Southwest Airlines recently launched an interline agreement with Icelandair to connect travelers with transatlantic itineraries. Customers can already book connecting flights through both Nashville and Denver on Icelandair.com, and third-party websites, with flights beginning May 12.

With a record-high 180+ peak-day departures later this year from Nashville, Southwest will offer connections to and from Iceland and Europe from many of the nearly 90 North American airports Southwest serves nonstop from Nashville.

Nashville International Airport hosted a celebratory gate event, honoring the new route, where distinguished speakers, including Svanhildur Hólm Valsdóttir, Ambassador of Iceland to the United States, Tomas Ingason, Chief Commercial Officer of Icelandair and Doug Kreulen, president and CEO of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) shared remarks highlighting the significance of this new air service. Tennessee Department of Tourist Development Commissioner Mark Ezell, Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell, and Deana Ivey, Chief Marketing Officer for the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corporation, also took the stage to emphasize the economic and tourism benefits of the partnership between BNA and Icelandair.
