IAG to launch new Avios customer loyalty scheme

IAG to launch new Avios customer loyalty scheme

Airmiles, BA Miles and Iberia Plus points are all to be scrapped as International Airlines Group mergers all three loyalty programmes.

From November this year, and following the merger of Iberia and British Airways, a new loyalty programme – named Avios – will be launched.

Avios will become the new reward currency for all three travel reward programmes in the IAG group: the UK Airmiles programme, British Airways Executive Club and Iberia Plus.

IAG also owns the Mileage Company, which runs Airmiles.

Current Airmiles members will be able to collect Avios on BA and Iberia flights.

From November 16th, the scheme will offer a clear redemption map for customers of all three programmes, breaking the world into nine zones so customers know exactly how many Avios points they need for a destination.

One Avios will have the same value as one BA mile and all BA miles will be automatically converted to Avios on November 16th.

For Airmiles customers, every Airmile becomes ten Avios, so members who have 900 Airmiles, will now have 9,000 Avios.

Airmiles members can continue to collect on other spending through Tesco, Lloyds TSB, Shell and more than 200 online shopping brands to build up Avois to travel.

There is more information on the Avios website.
