Hotel G Yangon set to open its doors in September

Yangon is a city abundant not only with ancient temples and pagodas, but also a booming contemporary design, culinary and music scene.

The city will gain its first lifestyle hotel in September with the debut of Hotel G Yangon, an 85-room design hotel located at the heart of Yangon’s vibrant entertainment neighbourhood, with art galleries, shopping malls, the famous Bogyoke Aung San (Scott’s) market and Yangon’s central railway station right on its doorstep.

This next generation hotel is managed by GCP Hospitality, who operates Hotels G with a network of properties in Singapore, Bangkok, Pattaya, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, with scheduled openings in Beijing, Perth and Seoul.

Hotel G Yangon will have all the intuitive technology, super-fast connectivity and understated style that savvy modern travellers crave, alongside creatively designed social spaces, a premium eatery and bar and fully equipped fitness centre.

At the heart of Hotel G Yangon will be an open plan lobby and signature Babett Eatery & Bar, a trendy chic area with exposed brickwork, wooden tables and suede banquettes where guests and locals can relax, refuel and reconnect.

Babett, open throughout the day, will offer breakfast on the go and leisurely brunches, pizzas from a wood-fired grill, sharing platters of cold cuts and cheese, and daily specials from executive chef, Javier Ballesta.

Like its sister restaurants, Ginett Singapore and Scarlett Hong Kong & Bangkok, Babett will become a social hub, where guests can update their blog over a coffee, share a craft beer with fellow travellers, or join one of the communal tables to share a metre-long sharing board while swapping tales of adventure.

Hotel G Yangon will have 85 fully equipped rooms ranging from 15 m2 to 30 m2 across four room categories - Good, Great, Greater and Greatest.

Rooms have been designed in wood tones that contrast with vividly coloured walls and artworks with a modern graphic take on Myanmar’s design heritage.

“The time is right for the city’s first lifestyle hotel, where like-minded international travellers and local residents can find a trendy space to work, relax, play and collaborate,” commented Hotel G Yangon general manager, Othmane Amrani.

“There has never been a more exciting time to be in Yangon and every week we are seeing a new edgy gallery, shop or restaurant pop up in the neighbourhood around us.

“Our prime location represents the perfect mix between contemporary lifestyle and the traditions and values of this beautiful country, which perfectly reflects Hotel G’s DNA and vision.”

Hotel G Yangon sits in a prime location in the lively district of Yaw Min Gyi, just a few minutes’ drive from the world-famous Shwedagon Pagoda and downtown Yangon with its historic colonial buildings.
