Expedia signs agreement with China’s Motel 168 Hotel Chain

Expedia, the world’s largest online travel company, today announced it has signed a global agreement with Motel 168, a leading budget hotel brand with more than 300 hotels in 50 cities across China. Motel 168 will now be available to nearly 60 million visitors who shop for travel on more than 90 Expedia®- and hotels.com®-branded sites worldwide.

“We are pleased with the opportunity to offer our fashionable and valuable accommodations to a vast new audience of travelers across the globe,” said Ethan Cai, chief operating officer at Motel 168.  “We expect to benefit from the array of marketing opportunities and merchandising tools Expedia offers.”

Motel 168 will utilize Expedia QuickConnect, which automates the exchange of rates, inventory and booking information between Expedia and its hotel partners. This announcement builds on the announcement earlier this week detailing Expedia’s relationship with CHINAonline, the hotel channel management service provider that will be facilitating the connection, which will in turn enhance the overall efficiency of the relationship between Expedia and Motel 168.

“This partnership with Motel 168 is an excellent example of Expedia’s efforts to help hoteliers throughout Asia to extend their reach to a world of travelers, and to continually enhance the selection of accommodations we offer to travelers,” said Cyril Ranque, vice president of Expedia Partner Services Group, APAC.  “In addition, streamlining the way our systems connect to one another gives us the ability to focus more on helping Motel 168 maximize its reach to millions of inbound customers they did not previously have access to.”
