European Union shows support towards Seychelles 2011 carnival

The European Union (EU) gave the 2011 “Carnaval International de Victoria” its full support by being among the 65 floats to march in Victoria on March 5 and thrilled the biggest crowd ever seen in the capital, Victoria.

The flag of the European Union and that of its member states, were flying proud and in full gaiety to show to the Seychellois public and tourists, who had gathered on that grand day, the organization’s commitment towards the community of nations.

Flags of the 27 member countries of the EU were carried by young Seychellois, who also wore T-shirts displaying the name of the country they represented, as they joined in the cheers and fun of such an event.

Needless to say, the EU was well represented, and its display of flags suited the carnival’s theme which was “The Melting Pot of Cultures.” This signified the characteristics of the Seychellois people coming from the four corners of the world and also brought forth its very rich culture.

The EU participated in the Seychelles carnival as part of over 20 other delegations from different countries and cultures of the world, including UK, France, Italy, China, Indonesia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Reunion, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, Hawaii, South Korea, and India.
