Emirates has been active on the German market for over 35 years and has played an important role in tourism and the German economy. The airline has been particularly interested in including Berlin in its global route network for more than two decades. However, approval for direct flights from the capital to Dubai has not yet been granted.

ITB Berlin is one of the most important industry events for Emirates. Volker Greiner, Emirates Vice President for Northern and Central Europe, stressed that the company is aiming to establish new strategic partnerships with tour operators, tourist offices and other industry players at the trade fair. In addition, existing cooperations are to be deepened and marketing measures to promote air traffic between Europe and the Middle East are to be expanded.
