Carlson Rezidor under starters orders for charity cycle relay
Staff members at Radisson Blu and Park Inn by Radisson hotels across mainland UK are under starters orders for a charity cycle relay between 31 UK properties.
Starting in Glasgow on May 6th and ending in Southend-on-Sea on 20th May, the 1300+ mile journey is expected to take around 140 cycling hours and to raise £30,000 for a range of local UK charities.
Over 120 Carlson Rezidor staff members are currently in training for this serious physical challenge.
Relay legs range from the shortest at four and a half hours to a gruelling 12 hour stretch from Edinburgh to Durham.
The initiative is part of Carlson Rezidor’s Responsible Business Programme - one of the strongest in the hospitality industry.
Inge Huijbrechts, director responsible business, Carlson Rezidor explained: “Responsible business is about three key elements for us: environmental awareness; encouraging health and wellbeing among our staff; and supporting the community and charity.
“The cycle relay is a great way to combine all of these elements in one event which has really captured the imagination of the business.”
The relay’s progress will be documented via Facebook www.Facebook.com/UKBikeRelay and Twitter at #ukbikerelay.
