Car hire bookings increase for 2012 Olympics

Car rental provider, 121carhire.com, has seen both domestic and international bookings significantly increase during the time of the London 2012 Olympics.
Nearly 50% of bookings have been made by Britons between 20 July and 11 August, indicating that UK residents could be opting for car hire over public transport as their way of getting around during the Olympics.

In addition to this, 121carhire.com has found a rise in the number of overseas countries booking car hire, with customers coming from as far as New Zealand, Malaysia and Hong Kong to enjoy the games.

Michael Bond of 121carhire.com said: “The Olympics are naturally attracting a lot of attention from around the world and this has been demonstrated by the influx in our bookings. Many of our customers are heading straight to the capital to be at the heart of the events taking place.

“We expect these figures to increase further as we near the games and advise anyone still looking to hire a car, especially for pick up in popular locations such as London airports, to book now in order to guarantee availability and secure the lowest price.”
