Canada takes football fans beyond the stadium with mountaintop World Cup watch party
Over 300 football fans gathered high above Vancouver today to watch England’s FIFA World Cup 2026™ match against Panama from one of the world’s most spectacular viewing parties – Destination Canada’s Grouse Mountain Natural Watch Party.
Perched atop Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain, supporters watched England’s match on a giant outdoor screen after hiking or catching a gondola up to the viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the city, Pacific coastline and surrounding mountains.
As debate continues around the cost of attending major sporting events, the free watch party offered fans a unique alternative to traditional fan zones, combining live football with Canada’s natural beauty.
The event forms part of Destination Canada’s new Natural Watch Parties initiative, a world-first concept designed to take FIFA World Cup 2026™ fans beyond the stadium and into Canada’s iconic landscapes. With more than one million visitors expected to travel to Canada during the tournament, the initiative showcases how fans can extend their World Cup experience by exploring the country’s natural attractions and outdoor adventures.
The Grouse Mountain event is part of Destination Canada’s wider Natural Watch Parties initiative, with additional watch parties having taking place across the country in destinations including Halifax, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Toronto, highlighting how communities beyond the host cities are coming together to celebrate the tournament in uniquely Canadian ways.
