NH Hoteles to Open a New Hotel in Mercamadrid

NH Hoteles will open this 4-star and 124 room hotel in Mercamadrid. The establishment, under lease contract, represents an investment of EUR 9 mn of which NH will invest EUR 2.2 mn in furnishings.
This new hotel was awarded by Mercamadrid, S.A. in a tender in which NH Hotels and Konin 22, a subsidiary of the Veintidós Group, bid jointly. Mercamadrid is the largest fish market in the world, one of the most important European meat and vegetable markets, and provides services to around 30,000 clients daily. There is currently only one hotel in this area, despite its strategic location at the Madrid M-40 highway exit.

The hotel rooms will be equipped with a separate telephone line for modem connection, TV, satellite dish, videogames, pay-per-view movies, a choice of pillows, hairdryer, room service, and air conditioning. Guests will also enjoy the hotel’s fitness centre, business centre, gardens, private parking facilities, bar and restaurant. The inauguration of this hotel, currently under construction, is planned for 2004.

This new establishment will be located in a commercial complex with restaurants, shops, a 3,000 m2 muti-function area with capacities for up to 1,000 persons. Ventidós Group will invest EUR 3 mn.

This is the third NH Hoteles - Veintidós Group joint project. Both groups have previously jointly developed the NH Villa de Coslada, opened in 1999, and NH Palacio de Godoy in Aranjuez, which is expected to open in the next few months.
