Gulf Air Announces New President and Chief Executive


HE Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Gulf Air Chairman of the Board of Directors today announced that the Board Resolution dated February 13, 2002 stipulated the appointment of a new President and Chief Executive . Upon consulting with and approval from their Excellences the Ministers of the owner states Mr. James Hogan has been appointed as Acting President and Chief Executive of the airline effective Sunday 12 May 2002.


Mr.Hogan has many years of experience in the aviation industry at senior level. Prior to this engagement he was the Chief Executive Officer of Ansett Airlines in Australia and Bmi British Midlands Airways, UK.


“I would like to thank Mr.Ibrahim AlHamer for his continued dedication and support in developing the airline and also for his cooperation during his presidency.” said Sheikh Hamdan.  “Mr.Hogan was selected from numerous candidates for his experience and aviation background. I trust you will all give him your complete support as he begins the restructuring as directed by The Board” Sheikh Hamdan added.


In taking responsibility for the direction of Gulf Air James Hogan will add impetus to the airline restructuring process that began in March 2002 with SH&E (Simat Helliesen and Eichner), the aviation consulting company appointed by The Board.  SH&E will continue to support James Hogan as he develops the future strategy of Gulf Air.
