CarTrawler inks deal with Blue1
CarTrawler is signing of an exclusive agreement with Nordic carrier Blue1 to power the Regional Star Alliance member’s international websites with its multi-supplier car rental solution. CarTrawler will complete integration of its solution across Blue1.com’s network of sites by the end of the year.
CarTrawler’s existing airline customer base already reaches in excess of 100 million passengers annually. The addition of Blue1 ensures that CarTrawler will remain the worldwide number one provider of multi-supplier car rental to airlines. After LOT Polish Airlines, Blue1 is the second Star Alliance airline to implement the CarTrawler system.
Under the agreement, CarTrawler will exclusively distribute inventory from all major suppliers of car rental across Blue1’s route map (covering 24 cities in 13 countries across Europe). With 450 car rental suppliers in 134 countries around the world on its system, CarTrawler will ensure that Blue1 offers comprehensive choice to their consumers with increased availability in each destination.
“Through our existing airline partnerships we have now proven that using multiple car rental companies on an airline website drives a superior ancillary revenue stream over that of a single, restricted supplier offering. We are delighted that Blue1 shares our vision for this consumer friendly paradigm,” comments Bobby Healy, CTO CarTrawler.
At the signing, Tuija Hyvarinen, VP Private & Leisure Sales, of Blue1 stated “As a regional member of Star Alliance, we are constantly seeking ways to improve the seamless travel experience for our passengers. Allowing our passengers to rent a car throughout our entire network, with all of the major branded car hire companies, and as part of the booking process is a logical and important extension of this service.”
