Galileo secures rooms during World Cup

Galileo International is offering offer unrivalled hotel accommodation for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. The content, made available via Galileo Leisure, utilises hotel allocations negotiated specifically for the event by Galileo’s sister company Gullivers Travel Associates (gta).

By securing hotel accommodation in all locations where matches are being played, travellers can book all their hotel requirements in one place via their Galileo-equipped travel agency. In addition to the central locations, agents have access to a large number of rooms in nearby cities that are within easy commuting distance of match venues. This flexibility in room location provides fans with an opportunity to find a hotel that meets their budget. To make the use of these hotels as easy as possible, Galileo will be providing detailed train timetables for travel to and from the matches.

To add further value to travelling fans, the Galileo Leisure portal is equipped with essential World Cup travel information which travel agents can use to ensure their customers are well prepared before travelling.  This information includes details on all other services that can be booked in each location, such as airport transfers and sightseeing tours, and tourist information on all cities.

The participants and locations of second stage matches are still to be decided, though Galileo Leisure’s late availability will enable fans to book 1st round hotels now and 2nd stage hotels when they know where their team is going to be playing.
“gta has shown strong foresight in negotiating and contracting such a wide range of hotels in preparation for the World Cup,” said Alison Bell, vice president, Leisure Channel, Cendant TDS. “We are pleased to provide our Galileo agents with access to this hotel content via a single tool and with guaranteed commission.”

Since its launch in November 2005 Galileo Leisure has been embraced by more than 5000 travel agents across Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
