Monarch gears up for record Easter

Snow and record low temperatures have provided an Easter bonus for low cost airline Monarch. A record 250,000 passengers will head south in search of sun where temperatures in Spain and Portugal this weekend should be at least 20 degrees warmer than in the UK.

It’s hardly surprising that the Costa del Sol is proving to be the most popular getaway from the UK with flights over 95% full. Alicante, Palma and Faro will each handle over 20,000 Monarch passengers - up 60% on last Easter.

Monarch’s managing Director, Tim Jeans, said “This weeks snow has been the final straw for thousands hoping for a thaw in the English weather.” He added, “We’ve managed to add more seats to Palma and Faro, so even now it’s not too late to get away.”
