BTTM boom reflects China market
The Beijing International Travel and Tourism Market (BTTM), the trade only event targeting the Chinese outbound travel and tourism sector, has reported a surge in international exhibitors. The event will take place 3-5 April 2006,
New exhibitors this month include Prom Peru, Viva Latina Tours, Consorzio Italia, Malta Tourist Authority, Bulgaria Tourist Authority, Egypt Tourist Authority, Tunisian National Tourism Office, Worldwide Travel Systems, Air Mauritius, Chamtours Syria, Rastin Tours, Iran and Visit Florida who are working closely with BITTM to showcase themselves to the Chinese travel trade.
Karen Taylor, project director of BITMM said “China’s outbound numbers are providing an exciting and unique opportunity for the global travel and tourism industry. BITTM will provide the perfect opportunity for destinations and tourism products to claim their share of this enormous market. China is a challenging environment in which to operate, but those who are prepared for it and have a well developed strategy are already enjoying the rewards of this exciting new market.”
According to Wang 2005, there were 244,000 Chinese arrivals in USA from Jan to June 2005, 359,000 Chinese arrivals in Russia from Jan to June and 162,000 Chinese arrivals in Malaysia from Jan to June 2005. As these figures show, China’s outbound numbers provide a huge and largely untapped market for travel related businesses around the world.
Paul Verhaak from Superclubs commented, “We recognize exhibiting at BITTM as a unique opportunity to create a better understanding of our destinations and appreciation of the super-all-inclusive offerings available in our Caribbean resorts to the buyers of Chinese travel product.”
