DC hotel gets coveted Five-Star award

Mobil Travel Guide has announced
that Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC is the only five-star hotel to be added
to the coveted lodging category in North America.“This is extra sweet since it comes at the completion of a $25 million
renovation and we are the first in Washington to receive this highly
prestigious award.  I dedicate this honor to all of our 450 employees who
believed in themselves and have worked so hard to attain this goal even with
the year-long enhancement program,” says Christopher B. Hunsberger, general
manager and regional vice president of the Four Seasons Hotel, Washington DC.
What makes this award even more special is that the entire hotel put
together five-star plans at the beginning of last year to attain the fifth
star. “It was on our radar—the evaluation criteria was distributed to every
employee. We were on a path and one that each of us took very seriously,” adds
Hunsberger.
So seriously, that Hunsberger put a group of 16 management trainees to
task to create a motivational five-star program for the entire hotel. In
apprentice-like fashion, two groups presented their plans on how to attain the
fifth star. The group that won launched a slogan called “Beyond Compare,”
created five-star commitment posters where each department had to commit to
fine tuning their department-specific Mobil guide evaluation criteria and
practice these standards daily as well as designed a bulletin board near the
cafeteria highlighting those employees who went above and beyond in assisting
a guest.
