Atlanta airport goes wireless
SITA has completed the implementation of its wireless solution at
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
This wireless technology will enable 240,000 passengers at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will have access to wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) and
quality cell phone coverage throughout the entire airport.
With a forecasted 88 million travellers passing through Hartsfield-Jackson
Atlanta International in 2005 and more than 50% of those passengers being
business travellers, this wireless solution aims to improve
the passenger experience and allow travellers to access the internet and
use their mobile phone anywhere in the airport.
Atlanta airport General Manager, Ben DeCosta said, “Our vision at the
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is to offer our
passengers the best technology available to make their experience easy and
hassle-free. Offering Wi-Fi at this level and improving cell phone
coverage throughout the airport is a great accomplishment and we are very
excited to roll it out as part of Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin’s
Community Technology ‘Digital City’ initiative.”
